Scatter 083 started from Hartford Hall Hotel in Northwich, with clues on maps 117,118 and 109. There was a bonus point at a 2 point clue and we decided that it would be best to aim for that. We headed south-east out of the hotel and picked up several clues and then onto 117, heading around in a clockwise direction, picking up as many clues as we could and watching the time so we arrived at the clue in the correct window to get the signature.
After that we collected the remaining point on 117 and headed North towards the M56.
We headed East for 2 junctions with the notion of trying to pick up a few more points then head down the A556 back towards Northwich. We made a slight detour for an extra clue and it was not immediately obvious, I decided we should cut our losses and go for the finish. Russ said there was a sign 50 yards away and off he ran; thankfully it was the correct sign.
We headed back to through Northwich (previous bad experiences meant we left plenty of time) somehow back at the start/finish 10 minutes early, a quick guess at the last few tie breaks and hand our sheet in. I felt our route was roughly the correct way to go but I had missed a few clues, which were close to where we went.
When it was announced we had won on tiebreaks from Allan and Richard, it showed just how important the final clue was! Many thanks to Alan and Jeff for organising the event
