WHAT IS AN AUTOSOLO OR PCA?
COME AND TRY ONE ON 26th OCTOBER.
Motorsport UK groups Autotests, Autosolos and PCAs together, although they
each have their own set of rules in the National Competition Rules (NCRs). I’ll
concentrate on the Autosolo and PCA as these are included in our 26 October
Jubilee event.
Entrants in the Autosolo must drive the car to the event. It is aimed at road going
cars, primarily in standard trim, although some improvements can be made. More modified cars go into a separate class. The tests are all forward on a sealed surface.
The course is laid out with cones and some of these are numbered to help find the route. Additional non penalty cones are added to help define the route so that it is more a skill of driving rather than memory. A specific aspect of the course is to open up turns so that a handbrake is not necessary. You can carry a passenger andif you start with a passenger, you must carry a passenger all day.
The Production Car Autotest (PCA) has less restrictions. The car can be brought on a trailer, but it must be a production car. The tests can be tighter and can involve reversing. They can be on different surfaces, as in our Grass Events. You must carry a passenger. The PCA on 26 October will use the same route as the Autosolo, so will be all forward with no tight turns.
As an incentive to beginners in the sealed surface Autosolo or PCA, we will be
offering a reduced entry to KDMC members and hope that those who took part in the Taster Event will try the Autosolo or PCA at Demon Tweeks. Watch for the
regulations and entry details being posted out by email. This is a popular event so entries will fill up quickly.
If you require further information then send Duncan an email (duncan.wild@btinternet.com).
