KDMC participates in various types of rallying, whether on public roads, private land, or in forested areas.
Autosolo
These tests are all forward and non-stop, without requiring any spin or handbrake turns, and may be at one or more sites.

A wide range of low-cost ‘grassroots’ disciplines are available for new and existing members of the community.

Welcome to Knutsford & District Motor Club (KDMC)
Motorsport for everyone – from first timers to future champions
Knutsford & District Motor Club (KDMC) is a friendly, welcoming motorsport club that’s been around since 1958. We’re based at the Weaver’s Whistle in Northwich, but our members come from across Cheshire, the North West, and beyond. Whether you’ve never competed before or you’re already motorsport-mad, there’s a place for you at KDMC.
If you’re new to motorsport, KDMC is a great place to start. We run a wide range of low-cost, beginner-friendly events such as autotests, navigational scatters, production car trials, and grass autotests. Many of these can be done in a standard road car, with no previous experience needed and plenty of help from more experienced members on the day.
For those looking to take the next step, the club also organises three major events:
Knutsford Targa – an affordable introduction to rallying, ideal for lower-powered cars
Tour of Cheshire – a relaxed historic road rally run in daylight
Plains Rally – a full stage rally on the famous Welsh gravel forests
As you gain experience, you can compete in our club championships, including rallying, off-road events, scatters, and autotests. We also run junior and newcomer championships, with free or heavily discounted memberships for young members, so getting involved doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
You don’t need to be a driver to get involved either. Many members start by marshalling at rallies, which is a great way to learn how events work, meet people, and be part of the action. We even have awards and championships just for marshals.
KDMC isn’t just about competition. We meet on the second Monday of every month at the Weaver’s Whistle for relaxed social evenings with quizzes, guest speakers, games, treasure hunts, and motorsport-themed activities. It’s a great way to meet people, ask questions, and learn in a friendly, informal setting. Our year finishes with an awards dinner where we celebrate everyone’s achievements, from first events to championship wins.
We also use our events to support good causes, regularly raising money for the Midlands, North West, and Welsh Air Ambulances.
